The Environmental Fund Project

This Fund was established to efficiently meet the financial requirements of the environmental projects across Thailand. Under the assistance of ODA loans, 24 solid waste disposal projects and 4 waste water treatment projects have been formulated and approved as sub-projects.
This study will draw up a project formulation manual for local municipalities, which are responsible for sub-project formulation, and screening guidelines for the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment, which is responsible for screening projects. The study will also make proposals on how to address environmental and social considerations, and invite personnel for training, in an effort to ensure that the sub projects are executed accurately.

Environment and Natural Resources Monitoring System Project

Indonesia Directorate General of Water Resources Development Sector Loan For Water Resources Development II (PTSL II)
PTSL-I was completed in 2000 under financial assistance from the Government of Japan. Subsequently, the Directorate General of Water Resources (DGWR) has obtained the Loan Agreement from the Donor.

Bali Beach Conservation Project Additional Design, Environmental Study

Egypt KfW Environmental Planning & Management for the new Naga Hammadi Barrage, River Nile
The Nippon Koei UK Environment Director was appointed as the member of the Panel of Experts (PoE) responsible for environmental and social issues related to the design and construction of a new $380 million barrage at Naga Hammadi.
Two tasks were to be undertaken, as follows:
1. As a PoE member, to provide environmental and social advice and guidance to RGBS and their consultants as the project proceeds through detailed design and construction.
2. As a consultant, to undertake a retrospective review of the development of the Naga Hammadi project, to determine its compliance with the recommendations of the World Commission on Dams (WCD).

2. Work with NEMA to optimise environmental planning and management in the implementation of Uganda’s Plan for the Modernisation of Agriculture (PMA).

Remediation of Oil Contaminated Sediment in Havana Bay

Havana Bay in Cuba is one of the most polluted bays in the world, and its clean up, in particular removal and treatment of oil-contaminated sediment, has a high priority. In this project, the extent of pollution will be identified, and various approaches to clean up Havana Bay will be explored. Capacity development is one of the prime goals of the Study, and the expert will work closely with Cuban environmental experts to develop effective remediation technologies.

Worldwide Conservation International/Shell International Ltd A Guide to the Management of Biodiversity within Hydrocarbon Site Selection

The processes of exploration and production related to the identification and exploitation of hydrocarbon resources have the potential for impacts on the environment, including biodiversity.
Nippon Koei UK was appointed by the Site Selection Group of the Energy and Biodiversity Initiative (EBI) to develop guidance which will enable the potential impacts on biodiversity to be identified at all of the stages of the resource development process.
The guidance will be reviewed by key stakeholders in the oil industry and conservation community, and following joint agreement, will be adopted as the normal procedure to be applied when considering entry into any proposed new site for exploration or production.
